A 21st Century City

A 21st Century City

 Singapore Update

Singapore is an amazing city. It is a real metropolis. Renowned for being a clean, lively, beautiful city, with great food and amazing restaurants it also boasts one of the world’s best retail offerings. It is a leading city of the world. And now the country can boast another world’s leading space.

Gardens by the Bay is a beautiful City in a Garden.

Gardens by the Bay is a park spanning 101 hectares of reclaimed land in central Singapore, adjacent to the Marina Reservoir. The park consists of three waterfront gardens: Bay South Garden, Bay East Garden and Bay Central Gardens.

The Gardens capture the essence of Singapore as the premier tropical Garden City with the perfect environment in which to live and work. The Gardens help position Singapore as a leading global city of the 21st century. They do this in abundance.

Here you’ll see just a small snapshot of images that show part of these wondrous gardens and a small part of the experience the visitor sees when the gardens ‘come to life’ at night.

The retail scene.

Singapore has more high-end shopping malls per capita than anywhere else in Asia, and visitors are spoilt for choice in both quality and quantity of retail options.

Singapore shopping malls are really diverse from Little India’a 24-hour Mustafa Centre to VivoCity, near Sentosa, which is so big you could spend a whole week shopping, dining and exploring its various entertainment facilities.

The shopping precincts of Orchard Road, and Marina Bay are also extraordinary on a world scale.

On Orchard Road, the new ION Orchard is a stylish architectural wonder. It glows like a futuristic beacon enticing fashionistas and luxury shoppers inside.

This is one of Singapore’s most glamorous shopping complexes. With luxury couture, being the hottest names fresh from the world’s runways. The shops include our own Australian born retailer, Crumpler, which happens to be a GRIT client. Crumpler has 5 stores in Singapore, and we’re very proud to be working for them.

Further down Orchard Road is the multi award-winning Paragon, which is a high-end mall housing luxury consumer goods and sought after brands from across the world. Spread across six levels are fashion stores, eateries and sports boutiques including big brands: Jimmy Choo, Canale Patisserie Chocolatier, Muji and Nike. Crumpler are also here too!

Just across from Paragon is the Ngee Ann City which boasts the famous Japanese Takashimaya department store over seven levels. Again more leading designer brands aplenty including Cartier, Hugo Boss, Dior and Gucci and many more.

At the Marina Bay precinct there are a number of malls and shops. From street fashion to luxury brands, from concept boutiques to major departmental stores, the choice is amazing.

Marina Bay boasts Marina Square, The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands (which is part of the new Marina Bay Sands Hotel, with the world’s largest rooftop pool stretching 150 metres across Sands SkyPark) Millenia Walk, Raffles City Shopping Centre, Suntec City Mall and many more.

Overall the retail presentation in Singapore is superb. Smart, modern and welcoming. The ‘outside dressing’ of the high end shops is extraordinary. Exciting light displays frame the windows, so the merchandise is presented as art, luring the shoppers into yet another world of excitement. The wonderment, variety and high design of the multitude of shops and high end shopping centres is incomparable to any other city really in the world. This coupled with the innovation behind the built area in design and style really sets Singapore apart. A city for the future but there now to live, work, play and visit. 21st Century personified.
